Canadian Canoeing through rewilded Abruzzo

Step into a living rewilding story as you glide across the crystal-clear waters of Lake Barrea, nestled within the heart of the Abruzzo, Lazio and Molise National Park- one of Europe’s most ambitious rewilding landscapes. Once heavily impacted by human presence, this region is now a beacon of ecological recovery. As you move silently across the lake in a Canadian canoe, you become part of this quiet transformation: ancient woodlands are regenerating, large mammals are returning, and the balance of life is being restored. Surrounded by lush forests of willow, oak, and beech, the lake is a sanctuary for wildlife. You may glimpse a deer cautiously approaching the water’s edge, spot herons lifting off into the morning mist, or, if you're truly fortunate, see the fleeting silhouette of a wolf - a powerful symbol of nature’s comeback in this region. This experience is more than a canoe trip: it’s an invitation to witness first-hand the quiet resilience of nature.
