How your stay helps rewilding efforts
Your stay supports a local family business located in the northern part of the rewilding landscape, at the foothills of the Retezat Mountains. The cabin is fully surrounded by nature, with no neighbors, offering a quiet space to reconnect with the wild—right from the terrace or on foot, without needing a car. We’re lucky to share this landscape with bears, chamois, and mountain eagles, often visible from the cabin. Nearby Retezat National Park is home to 108 bird species, including 23 protected at the European level—such as the golden eagle, lesser spotted eagle, peregrine falcon, black stork, and even the elusive pygmy owl. Our cabin is also located near a red deer reintroduction site, part of the broader rewilding efforts in the area. We’re proud to witness and share the story of nature’s comeback in our region. We regularly host educational rewilding workshops in collaboration with the local rewilding team and Zimbria Network producers. These events connect people to nature and promote sustainable, nature-friendly livelihoods. We also cook with seasonal ingredients from a short local supply chain developed in our village, helping reduce our impact while supporting regenerative practices. By staying with us, you help strengthen a local nature-based economy that showcases rewilding best practices in the region 🥰
