Itinerary
DAY 1: 📅 Friday – Welcome & Introduction to the Village Arrival in the afternoon. Juan Manuel, local guide and founder of CañiBike, will welcome you with a short introduction to the village — sharing insights about its environmental and social reality, and guiding you through its charming corners that preserve the authentic mountain spirit. A perfect introduction to immerse yourself in the soul of Cañizares. DAY 2:🚣 Saturday – Adventure Between Water and Mountains 🕘 Morning: Kayak Route through the Chincha Reservoir (3 hours) We’ll paddle across the calm waters of the reservoir to reach La Cueva de la Sierpe, a site of great natural and geological value. Along the way, you’ll learn about the history of the old Chincha Mill and explore the importance of river rewilding, hydrological processes, and their impact on biodiversity and ecosystems — while keeping an eye out for traces of the river’s most elusive residents: otters. Guided and interpretative activity. ➡ Duration: 3 hours 🍽 Lunch: Traditional meal at a local restaurant. 🥾 Afternoon: Interpretative Hiking Route In the afternoon, we’ll take a guided hike adapted to the group’s level, discovering scenic viewpoints, natural springs, and restored old trails. We’ll connect with the landscape and reflect on how humans have coexisted with nature for centuries — and what challenges we face today to return ecological complexity to our forests. You’ll also learn about the rewilding actions taking place in the area: forest management for biodiversity, resource use in balance with ecosystem health, and increasing resilience in the face of climate change. 🍽 Dinner: Village bar menu. DAY 3: 🚴 Sunday – Nature in Motion On Sunday, you can choose between two experiences: 🚴Bike Route A 4-hour guided ride along rural paths and scenic viewpoints. Moving at a slightly faster pace, we’ll expand our understanding of the territory and explore how rewilding takes on deeper meaning when viewed across the broader landscape. 🚶🏼♀️ Alternative Hiking Route A 12 km trail with 400 m of elevation gain — perfect for those who prefer to walk and take in, step by step, everything the Southern Iberian System represents for the recovery of wild nature. 🛏 Accommodation: €35 per person per night 🌿 Activity level: Adaptable to the group 💬 Languages: Spanish / English / French (with translation support) 💚 Why Choose This Experience ✔ Guided activities led by a certified local professional in active tourism ✔ Sustainable experiences that support the rural economy ✔ Authentic routes through little-known natural areas ✔ Opportunity to combine kayaking, hiking, and e-biking ✔ A deep connection with the rewilding spirit — nature, culture, and community

How your experience helps rewilding efforts
💚My project directly contributes to rewilding efforts by highlighting the natural and cultural heritage of Cañizares, promoting a model of active and responsible tourism that respects and protects local ecosystems. Through activities such as kayaking on the Chincha Reservoir, interpretative hiking routes, and e-bike trails, we showcase the area’s natural richness while encouraging its conservation. In addition, we participate in the rehabilitation of trails, springs, and abandoned viewpoints, improving access to nature without degrading it. In this way, every visit not only raises environmental awareness but also supports the rural economy and the restoration of the territory, keeping the connection between people and nature alive. In short, CañiBike helps rewild the Serranía de Cuenca by restoring value, respect, and sustainable activity to natural spaces that had been forgotten.💚
